Artist/Printmaker Ann Lewis' work proves that although considered by some as one of the simplest forms of printmaking, linocutting should never be underestimated as a challenging, creative and exciting medium capable of producing a broad range of evocative images. Ann produces original, limited edition, linocuts in her studio overlooking the Ogwen Valley in North Wales.

December 10th -

As 2017 draws to a close, planning for 2018 exhibitions and Masterclasses has already begun ... on paper and in my head. The first half of the year promises to be a bit of a whirlwind, so I need to be well organised to make best use of every printmaking day.

October 16th - Birds, birds and more birds!

The last 3 months has been spent preparing for and printing 4 new editions for the 'Birds of Wales' exhibition at Oriel Ynys Mon, on the Isle of Anglesey. As I write this, the exhibition is 4 weeks in, with three to go and has been incredibly well received by visitors to the gallery. The work which I have on show has just been added to Gallery 4.

June 14th - Work heading overseas

So far, June has been a month of a flurry of sales at home and to several overseas customers. Botanical images, hens, beaches and waterfalls, quite a mix!

March 9th - Grosvenor Museum Open

Delighted to be notified this week that the Grosvenor Museum want to purchase the two pieces I submitted to the Grosvenor Open (the most recent ones of the Pembrokeshire coast) for their Permanent Art Collection.

February 27th - showing in new locations

An exciting beginning to 2017 with invitations to exhibit at two new galleries in regions I've not shown in before. From April 28th to June 5th, I'll be part of Sea Picture Galleries PRINTWORKS exhibition in Clare, Suffolk and I'll be exhibiting with Fosse House Gallery in Dunchurch, from the end of April.

February 12th - 'Old red rocks at the water's edge, Freshwater East''

The first large scale work of 2017 is now available in the landscape gallery. Freshwater East is a few miles along the coast from Presipe and the second lino in an ongoing series based along the Pembrokeshire coast path.

December 5th - 'Return to Presipe'

The last major edition of 2016 'Return to Presipe' is now available in the landscape gallery. One of Pembrokeshire's Top 10 'Secret Beaches', Presipe has a steep descept of around 100 steps to the most exquisite beach of rockpools and striking rock formations.

November 20th - Winter Exhibitions

The summer and autumn have flown by in a flury of activity in the studio and I now find myself in full Winter/Christmas exhibition mode. My work over the last few months has increased in size and changed quite markedly in style ... and that purple'ish-red colour has re-appeared entirely without my realising in the most recent edition 'Return to Presipe' which will be added to the Landscape gallery over the coming weekend.
