Lôn droellog i'r Garth (winding lane to Y Garth) - Y Garth is a farm which appears to perch on a small rise in the land just off the road between Capel Curig and Pen y Pass, with the slopes of Moel Siabod to its left. For months the farm buildings and the winding lane that leads to the farm had been catching my eye as I drove past. Eventually, I drove out there with the sole aim of finding the right spot to sketch - this happened to be directly opposite the lane entrance. I sat on the wall and sketched the salient features. Back in the studio, I decided I wanted to keep the print very simple but I DID want colour. I chose a very bold green and a stormy blue for the sky and pared everything down to its simplest form before cutting. When I look at some of the mark-making and forms in this image, I realise that even when I've not recently looked at his work, the influence of Kyffin Williams still runs strong in my veins.
