Ogwen Triptych / Idwal Slabs - Idwal Slabs is another climbers haven and they can often be heard calling to each other high above the average walker's path. Frighteningly sheer slabs rear up from the route that skirts the lake. The geology here has twisted the rocks unforgivingly and when the light falls a certain way, the contortions are pronounced and impressive. The focal point of this small print is an area of sunlight which accentuated the curve of the highest part of the slabs just as the sun was going down one evening a few weeks ago.
