Hidden hellebore - I work almost
exclusively using the reduction method of linocutting and occasionally
this means that mid-edition, whilst proofing one of the colours,
I feel that the image that appears when I peel back the paper is
interesting enough to become a small edition in its own right.
The rusty red of this hellebore edition was the third colour in
a 4 colour print and as soon as I saw it as a single colour on the
off-white paper, I sensed it was strong enough to become a small
edition of its own. This decision meant printing the mini-edition
before continuing, because to complete the full-colour edition,
more of the surface would be cut away and the single colour print
would no longer be possible.
